As we know, China is the first country that used lacquering technology. On the 15th of March, I went to the Nanjing Museum with Abby and Edward. We visited the Ancient Chinese Lacquer Exhibition at 12:50 p.m., and we learn more about the lacquering technology and have fun there.
The title of the exhibition is “Ancient Chinese Lacquer”. In this Exhibition, there are many different kinds of lacquered artworks. Including carved throne, Carved Box with Lucky Patterns and Characters, Screen with Flower and Bird Design Inlaid with Precious Stones and Brown Mallow-petal Plate, etc. These lacquer products all had unique, shining and attractive designs, rich and magnificent decorated, with a wide application.
I’d like the carved throne which made in Qin Dynasty in A.D. 1644-1911. It was a rectangle with 140 centimeters high, 150 centimeters long and 90 centimeters wide which made by Black Wood. Also there are carven dragons on it with the most sophisticate skills, so it looked magnificent decorated and well-made. I feel majestic of the carved throne because of the patterns on it. Just imagine if I sit on this throne and everyone should fall on him or her knees, how am I great and all of you should proud of me.
From the exhibition of the lacquer products, I learned how to appreciate an artwork that different to before. Such as define many kinds of Black Woods and choose the suitable wood block as the floor board. It’s good for our daily life and this experience let me know China is the famous lacquering technology country and I’m proud of it.
